COLUMBIA — Drivers who use the  I-70 bridge over the Missouri River near Rocheport will have three opportunities to ask questions and discuss their concerns about an upcoming rehabilitation project.

The Missouri Department of Transportation is holding informational meetings at three different locations throughout July.

  • July 18, 4-6 p.m. at Les Bourgeois Blufftop Bistro, 14020 West Route BB, Rocheport, MO 65279
  • July 24, 4-6 p.m. at Boone County Goverment Center, 801 E. Walnut St., Columbia, MO 65201
  • July 30, 4-6 p.m. at Boonville High School, 1690 W. Ashley Road, Boonville, MO 65233.

The current bridge is now over 50 years old, and is rated in poor condition, according to a press release from MoDOT. The rehabilitation project will include driving surface sealing, partial painting and steel structure repairs.

The work from next year's project is estimated to extend the bridge's life by another 10 to 15 years, at a price tag of approximately $18 million.

MoDOT plans to get bids for the project in early 2020 and start construction in early spring of 2020.
