Moving from Moberly to Columbia
Moberly brothers Doug and Ed Stansberry are relocating Premier Paper and Packaging. They founded the company 13 years ago in their home town. They started with one employee in a 13,000 square foot warehouse. Right now, Premier is housed in a 40,000 square foot facility and covers 25 states. Premier's Columbia facility will allow the company to grow and expand... their new facility is 88,000 square feet. And the move serves Columbia's need to fill some vacant buildings. Premier will move into the vacant Summit Polymers facility north of Columbia on Boone Industrial Drive.
"We're just pleased to have a formerly vacant industrial building get a company in there that's going to be creating some jobs here locally," said marketing director David Meyer.
Most of the employees look forward to the move.
"We're pretty excited; its good for the company and good for us hopefully," said warehouse manager Stacey Smith.
"So far everybody's excited about it, theres a couple of them that have their ups and downs, but otherwise not too bad," said warehouse assistant Doug Apeo.
Fifteen workers currently work for the company which produces printing and packaging paper.
"We're hoping that they're a strong young business and we want to see them grow and prosper here," said Meyer.
Moving will begin within two to three weeks, or sooner if the Moberly building sells fast. Premier plans to be operating in Columbia by December first.
