MoVIP Helps Students Get Ahead
Students have the opportunity to take special-topic courses not normally offered in public schools through the Missouri Virtual Instruction Program, or MoVIP.
The program just opened online registration Thursday for the 2010-2011 school year, and offers online courses for students Kindergarten through 12th grade looking for credit recovery, accelerated learning, or specialized courses not offered in local schools.
This year alone, MoVIP has increased their course schedule by 25 percent, now offering 172 courses instead of last year's 133.
Because of recent budget cuts in the public school system, MoVIP transitioned to a tuition-based model.
However, 100,000 dollars was set aside to offset the cost for medically fragile students.
