MU Fans Allowed in The End Zone
COLUMBIA- The End Zone previously known as the Jungle is making another attempt at getting students to tailgate at their metered lot CG-17 located at the corner of Maryland and Rollins.
On the first home game of the season, turn out at the End Zone was low, but MSAGPC tailgating director Corey Jenkins said the first student tailgating experience was probably low due to the holiday weekend. Even though the turn out was not as high as organizers planned, End Zone organizers hope the new changes will bring in more students.
The End Zone is now making entry into the lot free for all MU students, but reservations must be made in advanced on-line. On game day, if there are spots available and no reservations have been made in advanced, students are still available to reserve those spots on the lot
There is also parking available for students who have reserved spots on the lot for five dollars. Every home game there will also be free food and music, but students are allowed to bring their own grills and radios. Jenkins said he hopes the changes to student tailgating will make the lot more accessible and fun for MU students.
"The jungle this was like a bad stigma. I felt like it was going to be always stuck with that tailgate last year that wasn't very successful. Honestly the tailgate last year wasn't put together by someone heading the committee. It was kind of a side project. This year as my sole responsibility is to focus on the tailgate. So I feel like all those things considered, we just needed a new image," Jenkins said.
Jenkins said he hopes to expand the End Zone experience by bringing in new activities each home game.
