MU ROTC hosts veterans parade
COLUMBIA- University of Missouri ROTC kicked off a week of celebrating Veterans Day with a parade Sunday afternoon.
The parade began at the columns on Mizzou's campus and ended at the Boone County Courthouse.
One veteran in attendance drove in from Oak Grove, Missouri. After serving in the Army National Guard from 1956 to 1964 he said Veterans Day will always be important to him.
"My father was in World War II and he was one of the lucky ones who didn't get injured," Bill Lunceford said. "I've always had a huge respect for servicemen and veterans and all they do."
For Lunceford, serving the country is something that is important to his entire family.
"I have a brother who served in Vietnam," Lunceford said. "A son-in-law who served in the air force and a granddaughter who is a nurse for the Air Force stationed near Washington D.C."
A list of other events at MU taking place this week to honor veterans can be found on their website.
