MU's Anderson Bags Big Bucks
Mike Anderson's five-year deal includes a base salary of $250,000. But, including money from sports apparel, TV and radio shows, basketball camps and public relations, he's guaranteed $850,000 a year. If Anderson reaches all his incentives, including a national championship, he will be paid $1.465 million. He also gets a free car and free membership at the Country Club of Missouri.
Anderson returned home to Birmingham, Ala., on Monday, and he will attend the Final Four in Indianapolis this weekend. He hopes to name his coaching staff in the next few days. Anderson also said he is anxious to meet the rest of MU's athletic department.
"I'm looking forward to visiting with women's basketball staff, looking forward to visiting with the football coach, I'm looking forward to the baseball coach, all that," he said. "I'm a team player and, again, we're all on the same team."
Anderson has plenty of work to do with his team. The Tigers suffered their worst Big 12 season in the 10-year history of the conference, and finished in 11th place.
