MU survey seeks conference center and hotel needs
COLUMBIA - MU has hired a consulting firm to gather information about hospitality needs near campus.
PKF Consulting will conduct a market study to determine if there is still a need for conference center and hotel space in the Columbia area, specifically near campus.
The potential space would be available as a resource to both MU and the Columbia area.
This study comes on the heels of growth and development across Columbia.
The Hilton Doubletree on Broadway opened this past spring and there is still the Opus development deal for housing near campus on the November ballot.
But one MU professor says it can be a challenge to find space on campus for events like seminars and workshops, where you bring in out of town speakers.
MU is currently asking its department members to fill out a survey describing their conference center needs.
