Murder Victim's Family Reacts to Arrest of Suspects
Patton's family reported him missing Dec. 18. On Dec. 22, after a day of investigating Patton's disappearance, police identified two 40-year-old suspects: Doyne Aric Rhoades of Moberly and Timothy Ray Adams of Keytesville. Officers arrested both men for probation and parole violations, while waiting for prosecutors to file murder charges against the suspects.
However, authorities haven't released a possible motive for murdering Patton. And, his relatives don't understand why someone would kill him.
"He was a sweet person. He would never bother nobody. He would never make trouble," said sister-in-law Rhonda Patton. "He was a sweet person, [he] always stayed to himself."
Patton said the murder especially affected her husband, the victim's bother.
"He is hurt, upset, because he loved his brother," she said. "It's hard for him and the rest of his family. It's hard, period."
Moberly police said they can't reveal more information about Patton's death because of the continuing investigation.
