New Bill To Be Introduced at City Council Meeting
COLUMBIA - First Ward representative Ginny Chadwick introduced a new bill, B 130-14, to the Columbia City Council Monday.
The bill acts as a way to brocker an agreement between the City of Columbia and the Opus Developlment Company after the company threatened to sue when the city attempted to change their agreement.
The bill calls for changes to be made to the property in between Seventh and Eighth Street, on the north end of Locust Street. The amendments include eliminating the apartment units on the ground floor of the building, and instead replacing them with an active living space.
It also calls for the Opus Compnay to pay $450,000 to cover the cost of sewage and water improvements before starting construction.
On May 19, the City Council will hold an open floor for Columbia residents to comment during the next City Council meeting.
