New Columbia Dog Park
"They get bullied a lot because of their size but they'll grow out of it," dog owner Alix Sprague said.
Sprague has been coming to the park since it opened about two weeks ago.
"It's easier to watch them, let them do what they want," Sprague said.
"That's why we decided to upgrade to the facility from an unfenced one," Mike Snyder, Senior Parks Planner, said.
The fences aren't the only improvements for dog owners. White boxes that hold waste bags make it easy for park-goers to pick up after their pets. Parks and Recreation also designed the pond with a rock edge in order to keep wet dogs from getting muddy.
The Garth Nature Area is one of only two fenced, leash free dog parks in Columbia.
