New Driver's License Office Opening in Columbia.
COLUMBIA- The Missouri Department of Revenue is now accepting management contract bids for a new driver's license office for Columbia.
The new location will be a mile away from the drivers license office on Vandiver Drive, around the Columbia Mall area so it's more accesible to the public.
According to the department, out of the 181 drivers license offices in the state of Missouri, Columbia's office is one of the busiest. In the 2013 fiscal year, the Columbia office had more than 209,000 transactions and generated about $707,000 in agent processing fees.
Since 2009 the drivers license offices in Missouri have been operated by independent agents. This was a part of Govenor Nixon's goals for more competitive businesses as a part of his administration.
The bidding process is open to the public. Any person or company is allowed to place a bid. The contracts are awarded for one year, and once that year is up the contract renewal bidding process begins again.
The deadline to submit a bid is May 16th. To find out more information on the new location or how to sumbit a bid request go to the Missouri Department of Revenue's website.
