Ninth Street to Close Due to Construction
COLUMBIA - The Columbia Public Works Department said in a media release Ninth Street between University Avenue and Elm Street will be closed from 7 p.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday.
Ninth Street will again close at 7 p.m. on Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday.
The street closure is due to a large crane and other construction equipment in and in close proximity to the roadway in front of 308 South Ninth Street, the project site of a multi-story mixed use building under construction.
Public works said the road closures will occur during the night time hours to reduce the impact to motor vehicle traffic, bus routes and to pedestrians and cyclists. Motorists, pedestrians and cyclists should locate alternate routes and use caution in the area of the construction zone.
The FastCAT route is affected by this road closure and will run on a detour route.
