Nixons Visit Rock Bridge State Park
BOONE COUNTY - Governor Nixon and his wife Georganne visited Rock Bridge State Park Friday to see the work of the State Parks Youth Corps. Young adults from the group have worked at state parks, like Rock Bridge State Park, since May. They do various tasks to improve the parks.
Nixon said he was impressed with the progress he saw Friday. "To be here at the beginning of the year and then to come back later in the summer and see the progress that's been made is incredibly impressive."
About 1,000 young adults from across Missouri are employed by this program, and some find it a welcome break from the typical summer jobs. "It turned out to be a dream come true! I always wanted to work outside, I always enjoyed being outside and to do this for the whole summer and get paid for it, it's just unbelievable," said Noah Luetkemeyer.
The program runs until September 30th and there are still opportunities for employment.
