KNOXVILLE, TN -- The No. 9 Mizzou soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss at Tennessee Sunday afternoon in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Tigers fell to 10-2 overall and 5-1 in Southeastern Conference play, while the Lady Vols improved to 8-3-2 and 3-2-1.

The contest went back and forth for most of the first half, with neither team getting into an offensive flow. Both teams had one shot on goal in the frame. The Tigers best chance came on an 18-yard shot from sophomore Abi Raymer, but her ball sailed wide right of the goal.

Senior Haley Krentz had Mizzou's best offensive chance early in the second half when she collected a pass from junior Alyssa Diggs and unleashed a shot from the left corner of the box. Krentz's attempt eluded the Lady Vol keeper but clanged off the crossbar.

Tennessee a 1-0 lead in the 59th minute when Hannah Wilkinson sent a pass across the box that found the foot of Tori Bailey. The Lady Vol one-touched a low six-yard shot to the far post and out of the reach of Mizzou goalkeeper McKenzie Sauerwein.

With less than five minutes left in the game, Missouri earned a free kick deep into the Tennessee defensive end. Krentz short passed to junior Dominique Richardson, who blasted a 25-yard shot that sailed over the Lady Vols' goalie but bounced off the crossbar.

Sophomore Kaysie Clark seemed to even the score at 1-1 in the 86th minute when she rifled a shot into the lower left netting. However, Clark was ruled offsides and the goal disallowed.

The Tigers had an 11-10 shots advantage and a 5-4 corner kicks edge in the contest.

Mizzou returns home to Walton Stadium next weekend when the team hosts Kentucky on Friday, October 5 at 6:30 p.m. The Tigers then take on Mississippi State on Sunday, October 7 at 1 p.m.
