Now Easier to Issue AMBER Alerts
So, a mid-Missouri town is making it quicker and easier to issue Amber Alerts.
Stacie Robinson runs a Macon daycare. She knows how scary it is when children are out of sight.
"I know how it can happen," she said. "I had my son and two others who were at the bus stop six years ago, and someone tried to get them in the car, tried to talk them over to give them a ride to school."
But now, there's the Amber Stick, a portable memory device for computers that has a child's picture and other information for issuing an alert.
"You just put your child's information in it and then it saves it," explained Brooke Schmidt of the Macon Police Department. "You can put up to three pictures of the child, update it as many times as you want to and, if anything were to ever happen to the child, you just bring it in to the police department."
The Amber Stick can access information for an alert in mere minutes, instead of old-fashioned paperwork which took authorities up to two hours.
You can buy Amber Sticks through the Macon Police Department. Call 660-385-2195 for more information.
