Numbers to know: Mizzou football coach search
COLUMBIA - Missouri football is in need of a new head coach after MU Athletic Director Jim Sterk fired Barry Odom on Saturday. Here are three numbers to know with Sterk in the middle of the coaching search.
$3.05 million - That was Barry Odom's guaranteed annual salary for this past season until he was fired Saturday. That ranked 47th among FBS coaches this past season. Even though the athletic department has to deal with some financial obstacles, Athletic Director Jim Sterk says there is a range of what MU is able to pay depending on experience and success of coaching candidates.
11 - That's the number of wins Boise State coach Bryan Harsin has this season. Lane Kiffin, the former Tennessee and USC head coach, won 11 games during his first year at Florida Atlantic. Memphis coach Mike Nor-vell has also reached that number this season, but he is is expected to be in high demand for coaching vacancies across the country. These three coaches, depending on where they accept coaching positions, will have an effect on other Power Five openings.
2 - The early signing period for football is two weeks away. With Missouri recruits already re-opening their commitments after Odom's firing, Sterk is moving with haste.
