Nutt Gets Double-Double, Owls Fall in Exhibition
ROLLA, MO -- Jonathan Nutt pulled a double-double but it wasn't enough to overcome a hot-shooting second half performance from Missouri S&T as the William Woods University men's basketball team fell 79-62 in exhibition action on Tuesday night.
The Owls took advantage of five straight three-point misses by the hosts to open up a 11-0 lead, and led 18-13 with 13:02 left in the first half, but the Miners were able to recover, and WWU trailed 40-32 at halftime.
After the break, however, Missouri S&T averaged nearly 60 percent from the floor and converted 11 of 13 attempts from the free throw line to stretch out to a 19-point win.
In addition to Nutt's double-double, Logan Decker chipped in 11 points and everyone in the Owls lineup tallied at least two points. WWU held its own on the glass as well, pulling down 42 rebounds to 43 for the Miners.
WWU is back in action on November 29, taking on Central Methodist University. Tipoff from Fayette is set for 7:30 P.M.
