Office of Emergency Management Encourages Residents to be Prepared
COLUMBIA - The Columbia/Boone County Office of Emergency Management encourages residents to be prepared in case of an earthquake striking the Midwest. This news comes after an earthquake hit the East Coast Tuesday afternoon.
"While we're grateful that there hasn't been widespread damage or injuries reported, we should use the quakes as a call to be ready," said Zim Schwartze, OEM Director. "With the possibility of an earthquake along the New Madrid Fault over us, we encourage residents, businesses, schools and other local entities to learn what should be done before, during and after such a distaster."
