One child dies, three others injured in Camden County accident
CAMDEN COUNTY - A three-year-old child died after a single car accident in Camden County Friday evening.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a vehicle drove off the road before hitting a culvert around 6:10 p.m on South Business 5, north of New Missouri 5.
Leo Balderas, 3, was killed while three other children sustained injuries. Jacob Balderas-Ramirez, 6; Sarahi Garcia, 10; and Jesus Garcia-Ortiz, 9 were transported to Lake Regional Hospital with moderate to severe injuries.
Balderas and Balderas-Ramirez were not wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
Troop F arrested 19-year-old Griselda Ramirez-Ortiz who was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo. She was charged with one count of felony manslaughter, three counts of second degree assault, two counts of failing to secure a child in a child restraint and driving without a license.
