Outages Leave Eldon Residents Cold
"We woke up about 5:00 this morning with our house freezing again, our electricity went out again," according to Eldon resident Toni Cordero. "We have had limbs falling in our yard approximately every 20 minutes. We've had to move our vehicles and we kind of fear for our safety."
Those with nowhere to go seek shelter wherever they can.
Another resident, Charlie Fogle said, "I called and said, do you know anywhere I can go to get heat. There was damage done to my trailer. I don't know how much damage. A couple branches slid down the side of my trailer."
The city's Community Outreach Center is taking people in, and giving some a place to sleep.
"We came here because the power went off late last night and it's been off ever since," said resident Lee Gandy.
The city says it will stay open as long as it takes for all of its residents to return home with power.
"It is an inconvenience and there are a lot of side roads that are scary to be driving on," Cordero added. You can find a link to the shelter open nearest to you on the "Open Shelters" link on the right side of this page.
