Pamela Hupp released from hospital, put in jail
ST. LOUIS (AP) — A suburban St. Louis woman who reportedly stabbed herself with a pen after her arrest for first-degree murder is out of the hospital and in jail.
Authorities say 57-year-old Pamela Hupp was released from a hospital Thursday. She is jailed on $2 million bond in the killing of 33-year-old Louis Gumpenberger on Aug. 16.
Hupp claimed Gumpenberger was an intruder at her O'Fallon home, but authorities say she set him up in a plot to direct suspicion at Russell Faria.
Faria was convicted, but later acquitted, of killing his wife in 2011. That conviction was reversed party on claims that Faria should have been able to argue in the first trial that Hupp had motive to kill Betsy Faria since Hupp had recently become the beneficiary of an insurance policy.
