Parents notified after student brings knife to school
HOLTS SUMMIT - A Jefferson City elementary school notified parents after a child brought a knife to school on Monday.
According to the email sent to North Elementary School parents, the student made threatening remarks which were overheard by other students.
The email continued, "Due to the seriousness of this incident, Board policy was followed including serious disciplinary action, as it relates to situations like this."
Amy Berendzen, JCPS spokesperson, said staff was alerted and took care of the situation immediately.
Berendzen went on to say safety and security are their top priorities.
