Pawn Store to Close Following Boonville Assault
BOONVILLE- Tiger Pawn Store II in Boonville will be closing indefinitely following last Thursday's deadly assault. 63-year-old Verdayne Schacher died Friday night due to severe head injuries. Store owner Dan Trim said he feels no point to keep the store open following Schacher's death, so items will be moved to the Tiger Pawn Store in Columbia.
Two bouquets of flowers laid outside of the Tiger Pawn Store II's door Tuesday in memory of Schacher. Trim said Schacher was a private individual who kept his social life to a minimum. He added that Schacher was extremely smart and knew how to run the business well. Trim said he was at University Hospital on Friday when Schacher passed away.
Boonville's Chief Detective Bob Welliver said the police recovered some items taken from the pawn shop that Thursday. He said the motive behind the assault could be robbery. He mentioned the suspect, 26-year-old Calvin Lee Dibble of Glasgow, was seen at various businesses Thursday before the assault. Welliver also said a few items from the store are being examined to see if any were used as a weapon during the assault. Dibble was charged with first degree assault and armed criminal action before Schacher died. Welliver said the prosecuter will determine if other charges are necessary.
