Pilot injured when small plane crashes in southeast Missouri
DEXTER (AP) — A southeast Missouri man was injured when the small plane he was piloting crashed into a wooded area.
The Stoddard County Sheriff's Department said the pilot was injured but managed to walk away after the Cessna 150 crashed early Monday south of Dexter within about 75 yards of a house.
The Southeast Missourian reports that John Launius of Morehouse was the only person onboard when the plane took off from the Dexter Airport before crashing into a wooded, residential area.
The pilot made his way from the wreckage to a nearby home, but collapsed near the carport. He was found about two hours after the crash, and was taken to a hospital. His condition is unclear.
The Federal Aviation Administration is expected to investigate.
