Pinnacles Youth Park closes due to 'too many people gathering in groups'
STURGEON - Pinnacles Youth Park closed its gates to the public on Tuesday due to concerns of group gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"There are too many people gathering in groups creating an unsafe environment," a Facebook post said.
Park manager Curt Barrett said people were hugging and hanging out in the parking lot.
"There were 12 people that came and had a picnic" on Tuesday, he said.
The President's guidelines say to avoid social gatherings in groups of more than 10 people.
"We all have to get through this together," Barrett said.
As of right now, the park is closed until April 30, but the closure could be extended.
"We hated to do it, but we decided it was our civic duty to close the park for a while," Barrett said.
He said he is happy that people are respecting the closure.
