Pioneering Motorist Sentenced
A man who was dressed like an Old West pioneer when authorities searched his vehicle in St. Charles County was given a suspended sentence. John Hill of High View pleaded guilty to one count of drug possession and ordered to serve five years of probation in his home state of West Virginia.
Prosecutors dismissed charges of possession of a loaded gun and driving under the influence in a plea bargain. Hill was arrested March 24 by St. Charles County sheriff's deputies. They found him behind the wheel of an SUV parked along Interstate 70.
Hill, who was dressed in frontier garb, told them he was headed to South Dakota to give Bibles and other supplies to American Indian children.
