Plan for Southwest Missouri Horse Arena Dropped
OZARK (AP) - Developers of a proposed equestrian center in southwest Missouri have withdrawn their plans in the face of strong public opposition.
Neighbors of the rural site near Rogersville packed a Monday night meeting of Christian County's Planning and Zoning Commission. They outlined worries about clogged roads, the costs to the county
and the effects on the surrounding agricultural area.
KOLR-TV reports that in the face of such strong opposition, the developers abruptly announced they were dropping the plan.
The 477-acre Eclipse Farms and Cypress Ridge Equestrian Event Center would have included an indoor horse arena, a 20-acre stocked lake, condos, cabins and horse farms. The developers said it would create 200 jobs and produce $3 million in tax revenue for the county.
