Police Investigate Columbia Teen's Death
COLUMBIA- Police discovered the body of a Columbia teenager in a quarry this afternoon.
Police identified the body as James Hickem, 17, of Columbia.
Workers discovered Hickem's body in Boone Quarries just after 2:30 p.m.
This comes just four days after Hickem fled from police.
Police were called to Cosmo Park Skate Park Friday after receiving reports of teenagers drinking and smoking.
Hickem told police the alcohol was his, and they proceeded to search him.
Hickem then fled the scene.
Officers were unable to find him and later discovered he received a trespass warning earlier in the year and was not supposed to be in the park.
The cause of death is unknown and police continue the investigation.
