Police Investigating Strong Arm Robbery at Petromart
COLUMBIA - Police are searching for a suspect after a strong arm robbery at Petromart late Monday night.
Police said the incident occurred at 11:17 p.m. Monday at the Petromart located at 3850 Range Line Street.
A black male with braids tried to take a wallet from a customer at the counter waiting for change according to a police media release. The customer grabbed his wallet back from the suspect and went outside to call police.
The suspect then turned to the clerk and demanded money. The suspect did not say he had a weapon, but had his hand under his shirt. He also used a white towel to conceal his face during the robbery.
The suspect fled on foot heading south behind Landmark Bank with an undisclosed amount of money.
The suspect is described as a black male, light complected, 5'0", with tight braids. He was last seen wearing a striped shirt, jeans and tennis shoes.
