Police: One killed in single-car Jefferson City crash
JEFFERSON CITY - Police confirmed one person was killed in a single-car crash on Monday afternoon, according to a press release.
Police said the vehicle was driving westbound and tried to swerve out of the path of a slower moving vehicle. The car lost control, crashed into a concrete divider in the center of the road and rolled over several times. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car.
Police arrived at the crash at the 1200 block of US 54 West, southbound and emergency vehicles took them to a nearby hospital. The driver died at the hospital due to their injuries.
The driver has been identified but the name will not be released until their next of kin are notified.
The roadway was shut down for approximately two hours while police processed the scene. Traffic was diverted using alternate routes.
