Police: One suspect arrested, one escaped in shots fired call
COLUMBIA - Columbia police said Tuesday morning they've arrested a suspect in connection to a shots fired incident Monday evening on Quail Drive, but they said the primary suspect got away.
The report said officers responded to a shots fired call at the 2700 block of Quail Drive around 6:30 p.m. and saw a suspect matching witness descriptions nearby. The suspect was walking along the street with another man, later identified as 25-year-old Jeffery Nance of Columbia, and both men ran away when officers ask them to stop.
A canine unit was able to corral Nance, who police said surrendered, but the other suspect escaped.
Officers arrested Nance on suspicion of resisting arrest.
There are currently no injury reports stemming from the incident, but officers found cartridge casings in the area of the initial call near the 2700 block of Quail Drive.
