Police: St. Louis 11-year-old fatally shoots 16-year-old intruder
ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis County police said an 11-year-old boy fatally shot a 16-year-old intruder during a home invasion, but some neighbors said they didn't believe that account.
Officers responded Thursday afternoon to a north St. Louis County home.
Police Sgt. Brian Schellman said 16-year-old Lamonte Streeter was found dead inside and that police believe he was shot after a break-in. Streeter lived nearby.
Some neighbors told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch they witnessed the shooting and there was no break-in.
Schellman said evidence suggests Streeter was shot inside the home, but wouldn't elaborate.
A 22-year-old suspect fled but was caught and jailed on suspicion of burglary.
The 11-year-old and his 4-year-old sister were not hurt. Their mother wasn't home during the incident but was cooperating with police Friday.
