Police take teen into custody accused of assault on CPS bus
COLUMBIA - Columbia police said Tuesday they took a 16-year-old into custody Monday afternoon who they say was involved in an apparent assault on a Columbia Public Schools bus.
It happened at about 4:30 p.m. Monday when officers arrived the scene of a disturbance near Range Line Street and Smiley Lane near the Columbia city limits. Boone County Sheriff's deputies were also on scene, but it is Columbia's investigation.
Police would not reveal further details of the alleged assault.
Columbia Public Schools confirmed the teen taken into custody was a CPS student. A spokesperson for the district said two students got into a fight on the bus and because they are minors they cannot release more information.
