Ameren says it's still not 100% sure what shut down three of it's main mid-Missouri power feeds. The outage left towns all the way from Wardsville to Auxvasse in the dark. In Jefferson City, workers at the Chez Monet Bakery were out of power for about an hour. Luckily, none of it's goods had to be thrown out, and it was pretty much business as usual.
"I couldn't clock in or anything because everything was out and so I just sort of just came in and we were still selling stuff," said Chez Monet Baker Emily Schroeder. "We were still doing business. We had to use flashlights to see what everything was."
In response to the outages, Missouri American Water Company has issued a boil order for its Jefferson City customers until further notice. Ameren says all of the power is now back on, and it's looking into whether or not lightning may have hit one of it's substations, causing the outages.
