COLUMBIA - Power has been restored in southern Columbia after a pick-up truck struck a utility pole at the intersection of Route K and Hill Creek Road.

Terry Vandergriffe, maintenance forman said, "The truck ran off the shoulder and it hit the guide wires and it snapped the pole in half."

Power crews on the scene temporarily repaired the pole by boarding it up with wood. The crews told KOMU that the pole will need to be replaced tomorrow. They said Hill Creek Road will need to be closed for a approximately four hours on Friday to make the repair.

Crews also said no one was hurt but several hundred people were out of power for about an hour.
