Power Restored on Eighth Street
COLUMBIA - Power is back on for all customers and businesses affected by the electric outage on Eighth Street between Broadway Street and Cherry Street in Columbia. A Columbia Water & Light Department official said replacing the underground transfomer took less time than expected. The official initially said electricity could be out in the area until 5 or 6 p.m.
Columbia Water & Light said problems with the transformer began around 9 last night. After crews reset the transformer, it went out again around 4 this morning. Businesses in the affected area included the Tiger Hotel, the Sycamore restaurant and the Boone County National Bank.
