Proposition One Debate Heats Up
"My kids are going be involved in this from the start to the end and so until they do a little more homework on this," said Jeff Jones, a member of the residents' group. "For the money that they're asking, we're going vote no against it."
The group also said the district hasn't shown a new junior high is the best use of the money or the best for students.
"They've added on, they've done some different things to the high school and to the grade schools, but it's just to a point where there's not room anymore," said resident Buz Bailey.
Buz and Lee Bailey want more space for their children's elementary school. Their son, Mitchell, agreed.
"Auxvasse Elementary is so packed already and we just need the extra space, otherwise it's just going to burst out with people," he said. "It will give us a lot more room and a lot more chance to get hands-on studying."
Concerned Residents of Callaway County say they asked the school board for information about the cost of adding onto the elementary school, but didn't get it. The group said it wanted to compare costs with the proposed junior high.
