Prosecution Uses Video in Ferguson Trial
Kent Heitholt's former coworker and friend Robert Thompson could barely watch the gruesome video of Heitholt's dead body.
"I ran up to the car and kinda knelt down beside him and I was shaking him and was saying his name and I was like Kent what happened, Kent! Wake up Kent," Thompson said.
Parts of the video the prosecution showed of Heitholt's body in these bloody clothes are too graphic for television. Heitholt's widow couldn't stand to see the scene.
"I went outside and immediately looked toward Kent's car and I could see him laying underneath the car."
Thompson says he tried to save Heitholt.
"His head was near the left rear tire and I just kind of locked in on him and ran over to him," Thompson said.
Columbia Police Officer Jeff Nichols said blood proves someone hit Heitholt. He also says detectives found two bloody getaway trails. Ferguson's former classmate and confessed murderer Chuck Erickson wasn't in court today, but the prosecution can still call him in.
