PSC Cold Weather Rule Goes Into Effect in November
JEFFERSON CITY — The Missouri Public Service Commission announced Thursday the Cold Weather Rule, designed to help customers with heat-related utility bills, will begin November 1, 2012. The rule will remain in effect through March 31, 2013.
The Cold Weather Rule applies to natural gas and electric utilities under PSC jurisdiction that provide heat-related service. Municipally operated systems, cooperatives and those that provide propane delivered by truck are not under PSC jurisdiction; therefore, the rule does not apply.
"If you have a bill that you can't pay in full, it is very important that you contact the company," said PSC Chairman Kevin Gunn. "Failing to do so could put your utility service in jeopardy for non-payment."
