ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis authorities are urging witnesses to come forward in hopes of identifying the allegedly speeding hit-and-run driver who killed a bicyclist a year ago.

Richard Beard was riding his bike on June 20, 2014, when he was struck at an intersection. Police recovered the 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix that struck him, but have not found the driver.

Thursday would have been Beard's 55th birthday.

His sister spent that day in announcing a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the driver who hit her brother.

St. Louis' prosecutor, Jennifer Joyce, and Police Chief Sam Dotson said witnesses have refused to cooperate, and the car's owner also won't talk. Dotson said the car was estimated to be traveling 65 to 75 mph in a 25-mph zone.
