Rain Slows Firework Sales
With all the rain experienced recently it is difficult to imagine that this is the time of year where most people lounge back and get ready for fireworks to boom in the sky overhead. But fireworks vendors are hoping that the rain doesn't wash their business away. The weekend before Independence Day is usually the busiest for firework shopping, but sellers claim that all the rain has delayed sales for the Fourth of July, even if only temporarily. Vendors say they don't expect any loses compared to last year however they can't wait for that first sunny day.
"We prefer to have rain say midnight to five am on a Wednesday... but we'll take it as it comes. We ask a little cooperation from mother nature, and she's given us enough rain... she can stop anytime now," said Dave Rasmussen, a local vendor.
The vendors are hopeful that firework fanatics will come after the rain lets up.
