Report: Ex-House speaker had affair with governor's aide
JEFFERSON CITY (AP) - A police report says former Missouri House Speaker John Diehl acknowledged having an affair with a former aide to Gov. Jay Nixon.
Diehl resigned in May after admitting he exchanged sexually charged text messages with a Capitol intern. At the time, Diehl told The Associated Press he hadn't been involved in other inappropriate or sexual relationships with other women.
But a Jefferson City police report says Diehl and former Nixon aide Brittany Burke both acknowledged having an affair last year. The affair was not the focus of the police investigation, which was prompted by an unrelated incident.
Diehl did not immediately respond to messages Friday from the AP.
Burke said she did not want to be interviewed about her relationship with Diehl.
