Road and Parking Lot Closures to Prep for Game Day
COLUMBIA - Mizzou's Homecoming is only four days away and the campus is beginning to prepare for game day. The university announced Eighth Street Circle and drive will be closed Wednesday evening to prepare for the ESPN Game Day broadcast on Francis Quadrangle.
In addition to Eighth Street Circle, the university will close the R-1 parking lot that is beside the drive Thursday morning.
Columbia police are expecting a high volume of traffic for the homecoming parade and plan to put "no parking" signs along certain parts of Sixth Street and Ninth Street. Police will tow cars from Ninth Street in the restricted areas.
People will be able to park along Broadway on Saturday, but will not be able to move their cars once parade preparations begin and until the parade ends.
Police suggest visitors park outside the parade area on Ash or Walnut Streets, on the other outer streets including Fourth, Fifth and Tenth Streets or in one of the City's parking garages.
