Royals Lose Rubber Game
The game turned into a hit fest with the Royals getting eight hits and the Jays picking up 12 hits. Royals starter Jorge De La Rosa did not help his defense as he gave up nine hits in five and two-thirds innings. La Rosa posted three strike outs in his outing.
The Blue Jays broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the second when Troy Glaus scored on a throwing error by Royals third baseman Alex Gordon. The Royals took the lead back in the fourth when Jason LaRue doubled and Emil Brown scored.
The lone home run for the Royals was in the third frame when David DeJesus went yard off Blue Jays starter Gustavo Chacin, but the Royals struggled getting runners across the plate as the team left nine runners on base. The Bloue Jays left 18 runners on base.
The Royals's next game is Thursday night in Baltimore against the Orioles. It's a four game weekend series, and then the team will travel to the defending American League champion Detroit Tigers.
