Royals Struggle at the Plate
Royals starter Odalis Perez pitched five and one-third inning and gave up four runs on five hits. Red Sox started Josh Beckett helped his club by pitching five strong innings, only surrendering two hits and struck five batters out.
The Royals lone run came on a sacrifice fly by Jason LaRue and Emil Brown scored. The Royals left 10 runners stranded on the bases.
The Red Sox, despite three errors on the night, used eight hits to score their seven runs. The lone home run in the game came off the bat off Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis in the seventh inning.
The Royals next game is Thursday night against the Boston Red Sox. First pitch is at 2:10 p.m. in Kansas City.
