JEFFERSON CITY - 500 employees lost their jobs Tuesday because of RR Donnelley's Jefferson City Plant officially closing. Employees received letters about the closing on Thursday, July 31. Workers told KOMU 8 that if they stayed until October 1 they would receive severance packages.

The Missouri Division of Workforce Development, RR Donnelley and the Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce held a job fair for the displaced employees was held in late August.

The Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce stated that that would be the first of many efforts to place the employees in other job opportunities.

Employees also told KOMU 8 that RR Donnelley is offering plant workers other job opportunities within the company but that would require relocation.
