RUSSELLVILLE - Cole County street crews said Thursday they had a difficult time clearing the ice-filled roads in and around Russellville. Street crews dealt with multiple accident along county routes C, D, and V, which surround the town. Russellville City Hall and many city business closed Thursday because of the road conditions.

Truby Rhodes, the Russellville postmaster relief, said the town mail carrier crashed into a mailbox down the road from the post office. Town crews helped deliver the mail from the crashed truck to the office. Rhodes says that no weather will stop the post office from making its rounds.

Eric Wyss with the Cole County Road crew said he was surprised by the number of wrecks he witnessed in the county. Wyss said a skeleton crew will continue to salt county roads and city streets to insure refreezing doesn't take place.
