Scammers Send Fraudulent Texts Posing as Legends Bank

COLUMBIA - Legends Bank in Linn, Mo., says that it has no part in the text messages that have been circulating mid-Missouri in an attempt to con people into giving their bank account information.

Missouri citizens have been receiving a text message that reads "LEGENDS BANK ALERT: Your CARD has been DEACTIVATED. Please call: (phone number has been ommitted.)" The phone number listed in the texts is not an active phone. Therefore it is assumed that people will respond to the text message with another text message.

When responding to the text, patrons receive a text requesting credit card account numbers and the corresponding PIN numbers. Legends Bank advises citizens to ignore these text messages.

If you have provided any financial information to the fraudsters, please call 1-800-383-8000 to report your debit card compromised or call 1-800-423-7503 to report your credit card that was compromised in connection with the scam.

Both Legends Bank customers and non-Legends-Bank customers received the text message.
