CHILLICOTHE - A judge declared a mistrial, for the second time, Friday in the case against accused kidnapper Brian Adkison.

Adkison is the man accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend in Columbia in June 2013. Court documents said Adkison picked her up while she was walking her dog in 2013 and that she then jumped out of the truck while he was driving. Documents also said he picked her up and put her back in the truck when she then found a screwdriver and stabbed him in the neck.

The events that unfolded crossed into multiple Missouri counties. Adkison faced charges in several, but Friday's mistrial is for charges in Caldwell County only. A judge previously declared a mistrial for Adkison in February for the same charges.

Adkison was accused of kidnapping, domestic assault and violation of a protection order in Caldwell County. The case was moved to Livingston County on a change of venue.

The trial began Wednesday morning. His next trial is scheduled for August 10 at 9 a.m.

In January, Adkison's trial in Boone County was also declared a mistrial on two of three counts including burglary, rape and deviate sexual assault.

A full time-line of Adkison's criminal charges can be found here.
