Second Round Draft Pick Chooses Mizzou
COLUMBIA -- Would you pick Mizzou instead of half a million dollars? That's exactly what Iowa High School baseball player Alec Rash did. Rash was the second round draft pick of the Philadelphia Phillies, 95th overall. The 6-foot-5, 200 lbs pitcher has a fastball that reaches 95 miles per hour.
Alec's dad says the family asked for $800,000 during negotiations but the Phillies only offered $500,000. Rash won't be eligible for the MLB draft again until 2015.
